Bridie is the founder and leader of the Adolescent Risk Research Unit (ARRU) based in the Sunshine Coast Mind and Neuroscience – Thompson Institute at the University of the Sunshine Coast, and the founder and leader of the Consortium of Adolescent Road Safety (CADROSA). While she has a great passion for improving the road safety of anyone using the road in any way, Dr Bridie has a particular interest in our two most vulnerable groups – young drivers, and senior drivers.
Dr Natalie Watson-Brown
Natalie Watson-Brown is in the final year of completing her PhD conducting her research within the Adolescent Risk Research Unit at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Natalie has a background in training and coaching and this has led to her interest in adolescent learning in the driving domain and teaching and instruction approaches. Natalie is focused on developing new and innovative training and instruction designs for greater impact on the crash risk of young novice drivers. Natalie is also employed by CADROSA, the Consortium of Adolescent Road Safety as a research officer where she liaises with road safety researchers around the world focusing on projects which target the adolescent as a road user; driver, rider,
passenger, cyclist and pedestrian.
Keys to Drive
The team at Keys2Drive have completed an extensive review of overseas best practice in many areas of road safety and subsequently made some changes to the K2D program.
Three of the team members from Keys to Drive will be in attendance to present an overview of their research and findings as well as talk to instructors about delivery and updating of the skills needed in this space.
During the presentation, Keys2drive staff will:
✔ Discuss the findings of the report, including the part Keys2drive plays in contemporary road safety education
✔ Explain some of the proposed improvements to Keys2drive, to be implemented in the coming year
✔ Answer any questions you may have about Keys2drive now and into the future.
Disabled Driver Modifications: Ian Kearley & Paul Crake
Ian Kearley from Auto Extras and Paul Crake from Total Ability will deliver a session concerning disabled driver modifications and will also have a display during the lunch period.
