Have you considered becoming a Safer Drivers Course Coach or Facilitator?
The Safer Drivers Course is an initiative of Transport for NSW. The ADTA is actively lobbying other states to adopt this program developed by the Centre for Road Safety.
What is the Safer Drivers Course?
The Safer Drivers Course is a NSW Government initiative aimed at reducing accidents among young drivers. It’s a 5-hour program made up of two parts:
- Module One: A 3-hour in-class group discussion (led by a Facilitator or Coach).
- Module Two: A 2-hour in-car practical session with two learner drivers (taught by a Coach).
Upon completion, students receive 20 bonus logbook hours!
For students with a current Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card, and are under 25, courses are free.
Qualifications You’ll Need
To teach Module Two (Coach)
- NSW Driving Instructor’s Licence (Cert IV in Training & Logistics)
- At least 1 year’s industry experience
- Current NSW Driver Licence
- NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)
To teach Module One
(Coach/Facilitator)
- Cert IV TAE 40110 or higher in Training & Assessment
- At least 1 year of facilitation experience
- NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)
Don’t have the Cert IV in Training & Assessment? No problem—you can still teach Module Two!
How Can I Get Involved?
You can choose to become:
- A Coach: Teach Module Two (in-car practical).
- A Coach/Facilitator: Teach both Module One (classroom) and Module Two (in-car).
Whether you’re interested in participating in both roles or just one, we can tailor our partnership to suit your needs.
What Do I Need to Do?
- Obtain Your Qualifications: If you’re not yet qualified to teach the Safer Drivers Course, you’ll need to complete the necessary training. Contact us for recommendations and support.
- Already Qualified? Reach out to us to discuss available course locations and start offering the Safer Drivers Course to your students.
